Editorial design: layout and lettering of comics
Multiversal Ediciones is a company that specializes in editing, printing, and distributing comic books. On these projects, my job was to place the images on the correct pages, making sure the colors were accurate, that all images and background colors extend into the bleed zone, and that there’s no important text in the area that will be cut away.
Then I prepared the sheet files with the crop marks.
I was also in charge of the lettering, that is, placing the text in the speech bubbles. To do this, I used advanced typography settings and character adjustments in programs like Adobe InDesign.
I give each published book its own look and feel, as in the case of the books in the “De Exportación” collection, made up of books by Argentine authors that were published in the United States and that Multiversal published in Argentina translated into Spanish.
In these, the front endsheet has a background that matches the visual identity of Multiversal, including the logos and information about the authors, leaving space for signatures and dedications. I used the same criteria for the one on the back, in wich I put the covers of the other books in the collection.
I also designed the spine and back cover, combining the original design with the Multiversal identity.
The "De producción local" collection was also designed with customfront and back endsheets, except that in this case a flap was added to contain information about the authors.
I designed the logo for the book “Flor de espadas” using a condensed typography, to which I gave volume and the texture and shine of hammered silver.
These are the books I worked on doing these tasks, each one is between 60 and 120 pages long.
